Sport and Conflict Resolution
Leap’s Sport and Conflict Resolution programme offers creative approaches to combining sport and conflict resolution training.
Sport is a fantastic tool for engaging young people and it’s a fertile ground for exploring conflict. Leap’s Sport Relief project has been working in partnership with organisations around the country to bring young people together that are in conflict with each other.
Leap has developed tools and materials over recent years that integrate training in sports with opportunities for young people to explore the conflicts in their own lives. Leap has capacity built the staff of the 9 partner organisations so that they are more confident to design and deliver conflict resolution training.
Benefits of Leap’s Sport and Conflict Resolution project:
- Staff at partner organisations reported increased skills and confidence in working constructively and creatively with conflict and young participants
- Staff members working with Leap increased their understanding of community tension and conflict and how to measure and impact it
- Leap is now developing a series of tools that can be used during sports training sessions to explore issues that arise both on and off the sports pitch.
