The training we offer for local councils supports a wide range of staff to become more effective, either within their teams or with the young people they work with. Programmes are also available for local councils to buy for their young people.

Working with local councils

As a result of over 30 years’ of working in youth conflict, we understand the pressures that local councils face. We work with Children and Young People’s Services including:

  • Secure accommodation,
  • Youth offender teams,
  • Social care departments,
  • Community education services
  • Schools
  • Pupil Referral Units (PRUs)

We can help support you to become more effective, both within your teams and with the young people you work with on a daily basis.

Young people can also be referred to our free Improving Prospects (link) programme which supports young people to understand their relationship with conflict and make positive changes in their lives.

Quotes from participants

"It was a practice changing course that has really increased my confidence and transformed how I worked with groups. I use many of the models in my work with young people to help them understand difficult emotions and underlying anger"

Caroline Vitta, Youth Worker, Brighton and Hove City Council Youth Service

"Leap's training is great value for money - the youth workers who attended the course all really engaged with the exercises and have started developing techniques for use in their own work. I was really impressed with what was achieved over just two days"

Councillor Asima Shaikh, Islington Council
