Response to the riots
Find out what we are doing in response to the recent disturbances in London and across the UK.
Leap has been working with young people, our expert trainers and sector partners to draw up a constructive and sustainable response to the issues that gave rise to the recent public disorder events in London and across the UK.
- With the support of Trust for London, on the 23rd August Leap hosted a meeting of representatives from 21 of the 27 organisations that have responded to the consortium’s call. Our objective was to harness the consortium’s collective expertise and knowledge to propose a range of programmes to address the factors that contributed to the recent violence. These ideas have since been the subject of a youth consultation event.
- The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has created a space for the sector to come together and feedback their experiences in one place to ensure that the fullest picture of the current situation is presented and debated. Leap will be contributing our thoughts and proposals to this website.
- Along with sector colleagues, Leap is starting to meet with policy makers from across Government to address some of the issues and propose solutions. Read our policy paper.
