For young people

Leap delivers structured projects working directly with young people aged 11 to 21 years – in schools, in communities, in youth centres and on urban estates. Take a look at the current projects below to see what is on offer to you.

QS 08

Quarrel Shop
Leap’s Quarrel Shop programme offers part-time training, volunteering and personal development opportunities for 16-21 year olds.

Over sixty hours, the course uses discussions, games, exercises and role-play to equip you with a language of conflict, help you identify what it is, and how it resonates in your life. You will learn mediation, communication and conflict resolution skills and tools and develop group work and team work skills.

Leap currently runs Quarrel Shops in London and in Yorkshire.

PeerLink
Leap’s PeerLink project is the UK’s only national resource for young people involved in conflict resolution. Young people from different projects, backgrounds and parts of the country can link up to learn new skills and share their experiences. You can get training and go to events led by other young people as well as get resources and ideas.

To read more, or discover how you could join, look at Leap’s young persons’ website www.peerlink.org.uk.

Gangs and Territorialism
Leap works with young people involved in gangs to explore their conflicts and decisions.

Leap’s specialist gangs team have tested a range of group work programmes addressing issues of safety, identity and community, helping young gang members look at causes and consequences of gangs, weapons and violence.

Pathfinder
Leap has created an ambitious and exciting Pathfinder Youth Project to extend its work across London and in the north of the country with the aim to create young leaders aged 16 to 21 who can deliver basic conflict resolution work to their siblings, friends and peers in the local community.

The two areas selected for delivery in Year 1 were Waltham Forest, London and Keighley in West Yorkshire. Nearly 2,000 year 9 students have now recieved conflict management training and the Pathfinder Youth Project is also delivering Quarrel Shops in youth centres alongside the schools work.

Pathfinder Youth project will soon be delivering in Bradford in Yorkshire and Barking and Dagenham in London.
